The following information is provided to the Burbank community as a courtesy by Burbank Criminal Attorney Gregory Caplan:
The Burbank Criminal Court is located at 300 East Olive Avenue in the city of Burbank, across from the Burbank City Hall, and two blocks away from the Burbank Police Department. The Court hours are generally Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; because of the recent budget crisis in the Los Angeles Court system, the Burbank Criminal Courthouse has been closed on additional days. If you are going to the Court and are unsure about the hours of service that day, you can reach the Burbank Court Clerk's Office at 818-557-3466.
The Burbank Criminal Courthouse has four courtrooms. Divisions 2 and 3 handle misdemeanor arraignments and pretrial hearings. Department G handles extensive misdemeanor motions and hearings. Division 1 is the felony courtroom, which handles felony arraignments, early dispositions, and preliminary hearings.
Criminal Courtrooms hear between 25-75 cases a day, including traffic matters, arraignments, motions, and in-custody defendants. It is not unusual for a Burbank Criminal Courtroom to be in session until 4:30 p.m., with only a few minutes to address each case. Private attorneys will often be given priority, and have their cases heard in the morning session of court, and case order is up to the judges.
